GEO & AI Search

How much does GEO cost?

Most early GEO work is not a separate line item. Crawler access, entity resolution, structure and readability serve traditional search as well, and belong in the same budget. A distinct GEO budget becomes justifiable once the work moves to external corroboration and ongoing measurement, which are specific to that surface.

This answer costs us money to give, and it is still the accurate one. In the audits we run, the majority of what blocks AI visibility is shared infrastructure: a retrieval agent blocked in robots.txt, an entity that systems cannot resolve, substance that only exists after JavaScript runs. Fixing those improves both surfaces.

What is genuinely GEO-specific is corroboration — getting independent sources to describe you accurately — and continuous measurement of answer share and citation share across platforms. Those are ongoing, and they are where a separate budget makes sense.

Treat any proposal that prices GEO as an entirely new discipline with scepticism, and ask which line items would not also improve your organic search performance.
