Web & Conversion
WordPress or Shopify?
If selling is the primary function, Shopify. If publishing is, WordPress. The mistake is choosing on brand preference rather than on which job the site mainly does — and the cost of being wrong is a migration, not a settings change.
Shopify handles checkout, payments, tax and fraud — genuinely hard problems you would otherwise pay to solve and keep solving. That is worth a great deal if commerce is the point of the site. Its weakness is editorial: running a content operation inside Shopify means fighting the platform.
WordPress gives the better publishing experience and a far larger integration ecosystem, and WooCommerce handles commerce competently. Its weakness is that security and performance require active maintenance rather than being handled for you. An unmaintained WordPress store becomes a liability quickly.
The honest test: if you removed the shop, would there still be a reason for the site to exist? If yes, start from WordPress. If no, start from Shopify. Artlogic builds both, so this is not a recommendation we have an interest in.
