How long does a website project take?
Most builds run weeks to a few months. The constraint is rarely development — it is content, approvals and access. Projects that slip almost always slip on material that had to come from the client, not on the build itself.
A realistic sequence is discovery and architecture, then design, then build, then migration and launch. Each stage has a decision gate, and the gates are where time is actually lost when nobody owns the sign-off.
We plan content and approval ownership into the schedule rather than treating them as assumed inputs, because that is the single most common cause of overrun.
