How long does a website redesign take?

Typically weeks to a few months. The constraint is rarely development — it is content, approvals and access. Projects that overrun almost always do so waiting on material from the client side, which is worth planning for honestly rather than discovering in month two.

Development is the most predictable part of the timeline. Content production, stakeholder review cycles and third-party access are the least predictable, and they sit largely outside the agency's control.

Migration adds time that is worth spending. Every existing URL needs a destination, and content that performs must survive the move. Compressing this stage is how redesigns lose rankings.

A realistic schedule names who is responsible for each dependency and what happens when one slips. A schedule that assumes every approval arrives on time is a sales document.
